The Move is Under Way….

April 25th, 2011

Tejay are moving factories and the epic move is well under way.  Terry has secured the services of a merry band of men and women both from within Tejay and families and friends.  Over the Easter Weekend in sweltering heat the team have dug deep and a relentless convoy of vans have been deployed to empty Grace Road and ferry its contents to Narborough in leicestershire where the new factory is located.

The factory is taking shape and slowly but surely Mortimer Road will become the new home to the best field sports manufacturer in the UK.  Pictures of some of the move are in the gallery..  more details to follow during this momentous week inthe life of Tejay Sportswear….

Tejay Up-Sticks for Bigger Premises….

April 14th, 2011

Tejay Sportwear Limited, the recognised market shaper in the UK field sports hosiery market have decided to leave their spiritual home of Grace Road and move to new premises in Narborough, approx 8 miles from their current base.

The move was necessitated by the success of their business in the past 7 years that has seen them rapidly outgrow their split site facility to ensure they can maintain current service levels and continue to deliver their innovative take on their chosen market of field sports socks.

The new factory and office complex will allow for the first time all members of the Tejay team to be housed in one building ensuring enhanced communications between departments and provide the space to install new machinery to match the current workload.  An increased stockholding capacity will allow Tejay to develop a logistic and order completion strategy that their partner clients are asking for as many of the big name players return into the Tejay fold after looking at the fareast as a supply option but finding timescales, quality and scope of supply restrictive.

The new factory will also have easier loading facilities enabling goods in and out to be processed much more effectively and a new showroom that will showcase the portfolio of field sports socks currently available reflecting both the home and international interest that Tejay have generated.

Tejay has positioned itself as “moving performance sports socks into a new dimension “ and this belief and constant delivery through a team that takes time to understand its client’s needs and then exceed them has brought the business to their door … this door from May 2nd will be found at

Chrissy’s preparation for The Rainbow’s “Run” of Life!

July 5th, 2010

Hiya, Chrissy here!! As it’s my turn to write a blog I thought I’d tell you all about my personal challenge to run the Leicester marathon. Yet to decide whether to complete the half or full 26 miles I have been waiting in anticipation for my 15 mile practise run where I will (obviously) be reppin’ Tejay’s very own Socks! The event is being held through Leicester for The Rainbows Children’s Hospice and this is how it went…

Day 7 of the countdown…

The 15 mile run is now in sight and I am full of mixed emotions. I am glad that its here as ive been waiting a while but I am extremely nervous as I feel as though I am totally unprepared, oh apart from the jazzy socks I’ll b wearing. I have slacked on my training slightly due to a mild injury earlier on in the year that put me off a tad! Here I go… 20 minutes on and totally done for, pleased with the run but wishing I’d done more!

Day 6 of the countdown…

Today is Tuesday and that means ‘Crowbar Club’ round at ‘The Shack’ at Liane’s house. ‘Crowbar club’ is the Tuesday event where a few of us get together, catch up and have a fair amount of ‘pop’… Shhh! don’t tell Terry! This means a lapse in training but I can’t miss ‘Crowbar’ Liane would kill me haha! Also, ‘The Shack’ is just amazing and wouldn’t miss it for the world, it was in this years shed of the year competition under the pub category and we were all hoping it won! Unfortunately we just missed out!

Day 5 of the countdown…

Wednesday and I am encountering yet another social dilemma. After being invited round a friends for a girly night and yet more drinks I had a very hard decision to make! I tried my best to get some form of gym pass but failed miserably and could not resist a night with the girls… somewhat regrettable the next morning!

Day 4 of the countdown…

Today is Thursday and after missing my training ‘sesh’ last night I have no option but to run tonight… until Liane struck me. Thursday is ‘Book Club’ round the shack and with one member away at the Isle of White Festival I am being draped in after the legally binding contract to attend ‘Book club’! As a limited addition member I agreed to cover absences when they arise. To not attend tonight would be punishable by death… thanks Liane! So there I go again, missing yet another training run!

Day 3 of the countdown…

Today is Friday and with only doing one day training so far I am not in the best of frames. Only trouble is that Friday is ‘Pub Pub Day’ and this is where everyone gets together to have a few drinks round the pub. As I now work weekend nights it’s the only option to see everyone and guess who didn’t go for a run today!

Day 2 of the countdown…

Absolutely shattered and a hair appointment to get up for leads me to a tiring day, hoping to go for a light run so that I am not too tired tomorrow I take the day as it comes. Turns out I ended up in bed and it was way too late by the time I got up. Ready for work and the big day is dooming I am not looking forward to tomorrow! 15 miles now seems such a long way… I did try to twist my friends arm into letting me cycle the course but they weren’t having any of it! Oh dear…

Day 1 of the countdown ‘The Big Day’…

Today is the big day and after going out after work last night I have had a whole 2 and a half hours sleep, not feeling to good but here goes nothing and at least the socks don’t seem to bad anymore!… 3 hours later and I managed to run 11 miles and walked the final 4! Extremely pleased, especially with the fact that we were 3rd and 4th to finish! I wore our amazing new coolmax socks for the run and I can honestly say that they were great. My feet were still cool and dry after all that time in the sun, unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for my newly tanned / burnt shoulders; but with my head held high I reckon its time for bed!

The Foxes in the Boxes…..

The Foxes in the Boxes

The Foxes in the Boxes

We are Leicester! Was the chant from some of the Tejay team lucky enough to attend the Leicester Vs Plymouth Argyll match last Saturday along with the other 27,154.  The game saw Leicester victorious in injury time with an Andy King goal, the win saw the Foxes seal the third spot in the league table and must make them a good bet for playoff place come the end of the season .

Liane, Chrissy, Amanda, Russ & Glen were all present at the match, cheering on the team after a heady selection of liquid refreshments to get them into the spirit of the day. No matter how much Nelson Mandela was imbibed Liane couldn’t be persuaded to do an Erica Roe to the PostHorn Gallop.  Shame.

LCFC is inextricably linked with Tejay Sportswear as Tejay – manufacturers of performance football socks – have made the clubs socks in part for the past 15 years. Tejay have stayed at the forefront of the market by reinventing and stretching the boundaries of the sock design, starting 30 years ago with a simple tube sock, the modern day sock now has ribbed support, cotton padded foot and micromesh venting which allows the modern day footballer a different foot experience compared to the days of The Birch, Weller and Worthington….

This evolution in sock design is led by Tejay Sportswear – right at the heart of the sport and – right at the heart of LCFC and Tejay will continue to support the Foxes until they are back in the Premiership.  Go Leicester!

Liane’s adventures in the smoke

October 29th, 2009

Just wanted to update you on my AMAZING night i spent in London Hammersmith,  seeing the world famous rapper Lil Wayne.  It made a real nice change from football  socks!

For those who may remember an ex employee Olivia McManus, i decided to take her to see Lil Wayne for her 21st birthday which was in July but due to illness Lil Wayne had to cancel the gig first time round and reschedule for 7th October, but it was well worth the wait!

Upon arriving in a very wet London Hammersmith full up on Maryland chicken freshly scoffed on the train we decided to head straight for our hotel which was only minutes from the train station (thanks to Chrissy who arranged my whole journey there and back plus the amazing accommodation).

Once we arrived at the hotel we decided to take out bags up and check out Hammersmith’s shopping facilities, rain or no rain! We soon decided otherwise after the 46 terrace house styled steps up to our room on the top floor! We almost collapsed it was like walking up a mountain! When we finally arrived at our room (which felt like 20 minutes later) we cracked open the E & J brandy and had a well deserved drink!

We started to get a bit peckish so decided to brave the rain and go and hunt down some food to line our stomachs before the big night ahead, we only made it to a local threshers soaked to bone and returned to face the 46 steps again with 2 bars of Cadbury’s chocolate, 1 bag of Dorito’s and 1 dip!

Almost 1 bottle of brandy down and we were ready to go and see what we had travelled all the way to Hammersmith for, Lil Wayne. We asked for directions to the Hammersmith Apollo which was apparently only minutes away but after 10 mins of walking we had to ask for directions again! Once we were on the right track the hotel was right and it should have only taken a few minutes max!

The queue was enormous and spread all round the corner of the Apollo and further back down the road, we thought we would be queuing for hours but it only took about 20 mins before we were inside.

Once inside the Apollo we headed to the bar to get some more drinks then off the standing area to go and claim our spaces. While we were waiting for the main act a DJ from Cash Money records Lil Wayne’s record label filled in, so i decided to bust out some moves but was soon told to stop by Olivia in pure disgust at my horrific dance moves!

Lil Wayne was out of this world, well worth the wait and the 46 stairs up to the hotel!

I have got to say there is nothing Lil about this Wayne!
